Successful skin treatments are dependent on a skilled skin practitioner’s ability to take an in-depth patient history, a visual skin analysis, and the ability to interpret results and plan an effective program of care. This is why we have the OBSERVE 520 here at The Medished.
What is OBSERV 520 and how does it work?
The Observ 520 is an advanced camera that takes a series of photographic images with varying lights to provide insight into skin concerns and see the extent of damage beyond what is noticeable to the naked eye. By placing your head within the canopy and holding still the Observ 520 will take a sequence of six photographs. These images are displayed and stored on an iPad device making it an excellent tool to view and identify your skin concerns including, oils, pores, pigmentation, hydration, vascularity. The video below demonstrates how quick and easy the skin analysis process is.
The Observ 520 can help to consolidate findings and highlight issues not evident to the visible eye. If you are curious about what is hidden beneath the surface of your skin, a detailed skin analysis would reveal abnormalities not visible to the naked eye. Everyone’s skin is different. The advanced, state of the art, diagnostic tool, Observ® 520 Skin analyser comes in handy to provide your skin analysis!
If you as a patient understand your skin, you are in a better position to understand why a skincare product or treatment has been recommended for you. There will be a digital record of your skin before your treatment and after so you can see for yourself whether it has improved.
So what are the 6 images that we see?
Daylight Mode: allows evaluation of your skin in a bright but neutral illumination, facial features are evenly illuminated. This mode allows clinical evaluation of your skin in a controlled natural daylight environment.
Cross Polarised Mode: identifies and visualises redness, vascular conditions, discoloration, rosacea, acne, inflammations, skin tone, pigmentation and sensitive areas.
Parallel Polarised Mode: enhances the visualization of the skins surface texture such as; fine lines, wrinkles, pore structure and visibility, dehydrated skin and hyperkeratosis.
True UV Mode: identifies hidden skin conditions not visible under normal lights such as; pigment inside the skin (sun damage and freckles), sebum gland activity, scar tissue growth and overall pore health.
Wood’s Mode: replicates the blue light from the Wood’s lamp allowing identification of lipids, oils and overall congestion which may be underlying.
Complexion Mode: THE BEST MODE...uses the cross-polarised images with the objective of amplifying impurities. This mode forecasts how your skin will develop over time without any intervention... ie. prevention is better than cure!
What will the Observe show me?
The Observ 520 will examine:
Wrinkles and fine lines – including underlying lines that are yet to come to the surface.
The sebum (oil) content of your skin, which can contribute to acne and blemishes.
Pigmentation – closely assess the severity of freckles, sun spots and age spots.
The true size of your pores – determines if enlarged pores are a problem for your skin.
The moisture content of your skin. Skin dehydration is typically a major cause of ageing skin.
Loss of skin firmness. Is your skin ageing well, or losing elasticity at a rapid rate?
Your skin tone and overall skin health.
So come and enjoy the experience and face the future of your skinhealth. As they say knowledge is power, so empower and educate yourself so that you too can reach your skin goals!
With love,
