What's the Difference between Profhilo and Polynucleotides like Ameela?

Hello! today I'm going to answer a common question that I get in clinic which regards to differences and choice of our two popular injectable skin treatments Profhilo and polynucleotide Ameela. We can unleash your best skin using both products... but lets look at each product in detail to help you make an informed choice for your skin.

Tell me about Profhilo!

Profhilo, coined the injectable moisturiser by the press has been the go-to choice as a hydrating skin treatment. Profhilo contains the highest concentration of pure hyaluronic acid and has the ability to hold onto 1000 times its weight in water. With its hyaluronic acid formula, it provides deep hydration, stimulates collagen and elastin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and enhances skin firmness, resulting in well-moisturised looking and feeling skin.

This is what gives your skin that dewy look after treatment. There are 10 injections placed in the face using the BAP (bio aesthetic points) that might cause temporary bee sting-like lumps near the injection sites, lasting no more than 24 hours. Profhilo remains effective in the skin for approximately 28 days and is most beneficial for individuals aged 30 and above. Visible results from Profhilo treatment become apparent within a few weeks. Typically, two to three treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, are recommended. We can treat anywhere on the body apart from the forehead and under-eye areas. The aesthetic improvements can last for about 4 months before a top-up is needed. Listen below for a summary of PROFHILO!

Tell me about Polynucleotide Ameela!

So Ameela (polynucleotide) is the new regenerative treatment that the world of aesthetic medicine is talking about. Polynucleotides are made up of nucleotides which are the building blocks of RNA and DNA. They are an innovative and effective way to restore your skins elasticity, firmness and health. They harness their regenerative super powers from salmon fish DNA (I know...crazy!- so if your vegan this treatment is not for you). They improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance skin quality and elasticity by creating an optimum habitat for your skin's fibroblasts to thrive. These fibroblasts then work their magic by producing collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, leaving your skin luxuriously plump, beautifully rejuvenated, and radiating a captivating, luminous glow.

Ameela acts as a protector for your skin and extends the life of hyaluronic acid by up to 40% through its anti-free radical effect, keeping your skin super hydrated for longer. Ameela interacts with cell receptors, causing various cellular responses. This primarily attracts stem cells, facilitating tissue repair, encouraging new capillary formation, and altering tissue structure for immediate tightening and contouring.

If pigmentation and an uneven skin tone is your concern then Ameela can assist in reducing hyperpigmentation and improving your skin tone. They work by regulating melanin production (melanocyte cells) which are responsible for pigmentation in the skin.

If you suffer with rosacea, then Ameela might be the treatment for you. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can help calm and soothe your skin and reduce redness associated with rosacea. As it stimulates collagen production it can strengthen your skin's barrier and improve its ability to heal. Additionally they can improve the overall condition of your skin, making it less prone to flare-ups and promoting a more even complexion. Ameela is available in three different strengths, one of which is suitable for the under-eye area. Polynucleotides are often favored for certain areas as it does not cause water retention like hyaluronic acid. In the under-eye area, polynucleotides can help improve skin strength, dark circles and integrity instead of tear trough treatment with dermal fillers which tend to come with a higher complication rate.

Ameela treatments tend to outlast Profhilo - hence slightly more expensive, with effectiveness extending up to 6 months in the skin. Immediate, results are visible, especially under the eyes. Typically, two to three treatments, 2-4 weeks apart, are recommended, with aesthetic improvements lasting 6 months before a top-up is required.

Polynucleotides stimulate regeneration of the skin at a cellular level and they also offer anti-inflammatory and wound-healing benefits, making them suitable for conditions like acne, pigmentation, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis. So in conclusion Polynucleotides get your skin glowing from the inside out. Listen below for a summary of AMEELA -previously called Nucleadyn before rebrand!

Tell me .. Is one better than another?

I'm going to be honest... Ameela does emerge as a skin treatment with extraordinary regenerative potential offering a holistic and powerful solution for a variety of skin conditions. Having said that nothing beats the glow that Profhilo gives along with its biostimulating benefits however Profhilo can't be used under the eyes unlike Ameela which can. Both products have an excellent safety profile and evidence based. Many of my patients who have these skin treatments regularly have aged beautifully - we will all age! but how we choose to do so is up to the individual. My job is to keep you looking natural and the best version of yourself. So I'm afraid that the jury is out here at The Medished...if money was no object I'd have Ameela and Profhilo treatments staggered over a year treatment plan! But I know life doesn't normally work like that - so a consultation is key with me to work out what's best for your face, your treatment goals and your budget:)
