We love a bit of fun here at The Medished... and yes that's me hanging out with my girls poolside talking to them about my favourite Obagi SPF's!! (I wish! I'm stuck in the shed working! Just day dreaming!).
So spring is here, and with it comes warmer weather and longer days. While you may be excited to spend more time outdoors, it's important to remember the harmful effects that the sun can have on your skin. As a skincare expert, I'm here to tell you that using SPF every day is one of the best things you can do for your skin. Not just in the summer, but all year round. In this post, we'll explore the benefits of using SPF on skin health and appearance, the differences between chemical and physical SPFs, and the best SPF products from the Obagi ranges.
First of all, let's talk about the benefits of using SPF. It's not just about avoiding sunburns (although that's definitely a good reason to use it!). Sun damage can lead to premature ageing, wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. Over time, it can even increase your risk of skin cancer. But by using SPF every day, you can help protect your skin from these harmful effects of the sun.
Now, let's talk about the differences between chemical and physical SPFs. Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing the sun's UV rays and converting them into heat. They tend to be lightweight and easy to apply, but they can sometimes irritate sensitive skin. Physical sunscreens, on the other hand, work by reflecting the sun's UV rays away from the skin. They tend to be a bit heavier and thicker, but they're generally better for sensitive skin and provide more immediate protection upon application.
Here’s some of my favourite products:
Obagi Sun Shield TINT™ Broad Spectrum SPF50 is available in Cool or Warm. These tinted sunscreen shields skin from UVA and UVB rays. But unlike most sunscreens, this sun protection product also defends against infrared rays. Instead of going by skin tone, this sunscreen is designed to match your natural undertone and enhance your natural complexion. Choose the Warm tone SPF 50 shade if you have yellowish, golden or olive undertones, a darker complexion that tans more easily. Use the Cool tone SPF 50 shade if you have bluish, red or pink undertones, fair skin that sunburns more easily. These products are so good you can use it alone as your makeup base!

Obagi Professional-C Suncare SPF 30: This vitamin C-infused sunscreen provides broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays while also brightening and evening out your skin tone. Its dual function product combines SPF 30 with 10% L-Ascorbic Acid. It is an elegant lotion that feels luxurious when applied with a built in makeup primer!

Obagi's HydraFactor is a lightweight, hydrating sunscreen that provides broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. In addition to SPF 30 protection, it also contains hyaluronic acid and other nourishing ingredients to help keep the skin hydrated and healthy-looking. It's designed to be non-greasy and absorb quickly, making it a great choice for everyday wear. Overall, Obagi's Hydrafactor is a great option for those looking for a sunscreen that not only protects but also nourishes and hydrates the skin.
Obagi Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50: This lightweight, matte-finish sunscreen provides broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays. It's also non-greasy and doesn't leave a white cast, making it perfect for daily wear.

We also stock a nice range of SPF's from the ZO Skinhealth range too! So I absolutely love all the SPF’s from this range .. there really is something for everyone and every skin type. See below for some of my favourite options. All available via The Medished.

If your on a budget, then I also highly recommend the heliocare and la roche posay SPFs ranges both available on amazon. Definitely 5 star rated! So in conclusion, using SPF daily is essential for protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays and maintaining its health and appearance. Whether it's spring, summer, fall, or winter, you should always use SPF to protect your skin from the detrimental impacts of sun exposure. So be sure to include SPF in your daily skincare routine, and enjoy the benefits of healthy, youthful-looking skin for years to come!
With love,
