Three Injectable Treatments I’ve Treated Myself to This Year An Aesthetics Dr

One of the questions I’m often asked in clinic is, “What treatments do you have yourself?”
I completely understand why people ask! There are so many injectable treatments available now that it can be difficult to know what does what and, more importantly, which treatments might actually be right for you.
As the face of The Medi-Shed, I suppose I’m also a walking example of my own approach to aesthetic medicine. I don’t want to look younger than I am, and I certainly don’t want to look like I’ve had lots of work done. I want to look my age, just as good as I possibly can for my age:)
For me, it’s a much more holistic approach to ageing well. It’s about looking after the quality of my skin, maintaining collagen, treating pigmentation and areas that concern me, and making small, considered interventions when they’re appropriate. I still want to look completely like me.
And really, that’s what I want for my patients too:) We’re not trying to chase youth or erase every sign of ageing. We’re trying to help you look healthy, fresh, confident and fabulous for your age.
So, with that in mind, I thought I’d share three injectable treatments I’ve treated myself to this year and why I’ve chosen them.
I’ve had a course of Julaine across my lower face, Baby Glow using Teoxane Redensity 1, and polynucleotides around my eyes.
What I’ve particularly enjoyed is how well all three treatments have worked synergistically together, alongside our Define & Brighten approach. Each is doing something slightly different, but collectively they’ve helped improve the quality, brightness and overall appearance of my skin.
And yes, these are treatments that could work beautifully for many of my patients too... but always after a good consultation. There is definitely no one-size-fits-all approach to aesthetic medicine!
1. Polynucleotides - for my under-eye area

I’m going to start with my eyes because this is an area that has personally bothered me for quite some time.
I have hereditary darkness underneath my eyes. It’s simply something that runs in my family, but that doesn’t mean I particularly like it!
The skin around our eyes is incredibly delicate, and as we age it can become thinner, less resilient and sometimes a little crepey. Dark circles can also become more noticeable.
I’ve had polynucleotides around my eyes actually for the last 3 years, and I’ve been really pleased with the improvement I’ve seen in the darkness underneath them. So now I have a single maintainenace treatment every 6-8 months.
Polynucleotides are an injectable regenerative treatment used to improve the quality and condition of the skin. Rather than adding volume in the way a traditional dermal filler might, we’re looking to support the skin itself.
At The Medi-Shed, we have different polynucleotide options for the eye area, including Ameela Eyes and Rejuran Eyes, and we’ll choose the most appropriate product depending on the individual patient.
For me, this has been a really useful treatment because my concern wasn’t necessarily about adding volume underneath my eyes. I wanted to improve the skin quality and the appearance of the darkness – and I’ve been very happy with the results... obviously I still wear colour corrector and concealer but there has been definate improvement:)
2. Julaine – for my lower face

The second treatment I’ve had is a course of three Julaine treatments across my lower face.
Julaine contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and is a collagen-stimulating injectable.
Rather than simply adding volume, it’s designed to encourage your skin to produce more of its own collagen over time. This treatment is done via a blunt ended cannula with minimal downtime.
As we age, our natural collagen levels gradually decline, and the lower face can become an area of concern for many of us... especially during peri/post menopause time. We may start to notice changes in firmness, elasticity and skin quality around the cheeks, mouth and jawline.
For me, this wasn’t about dramatically changing my face or trying to recreate the face I had twenty years ago! It was about supporting an area where I was beginning to notice those natural ageing changes. I’ve been really pleased with the improvement in the skin quality across my lower face:))
What I particularly like about collagen-stimulating treatments is that the changes develop gradually. We’re encouraging your own body to produce collagen, so this isn’t about walking out of the clinic looking suddenly different, it's a progressive improvement and that’s very much my kind of aesthetic treatment.
3. Baby Glow – for overall radiance

And finally, I’ve had our Baby Glow treatment using Teoxane Redensity 1. Its a skinbooster with a carefully selected blend of amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Redensity 1 is a hyaluronic acid-based injectable treatment designed to improve skin quality, hydration and radiance, rather than change the shape of your face.
Although people often associate hyaluronic acid with dermal fillers, this is a very different type of treatment. With Baby Glow, we’re treating the skin itself. This has probably been the finishing touch for me.
I’ve found it’s given my face a really lovely overall radiance. My skin simply looks fresher, brighter and healthier. I always say that the best aesthetic treatments are often the ones nobody can quite put their finger on.
You don’t necessarily want somebody to say, “What have you had done?” You want them to say, “You look really well!” That’s the difference.
Why I think the three have worked so well together
For me, the interesting part isn’t really any one of these treatments in isolation It’s how they’ve worked synergistically.
My polynucleotides have targeted the delicate skin and hereditary darkness underneath my eyes.
Julaine has focused on collagen stimulation and improving skin quality across my lower face, an area that can become a concern for many of us as we age.
And Baby Glow has given me that lovely overall radiance and freshness to the skin.
Together, and in conjunction with our Define & Brighten philosophy, they’ve complemented each other beautifully. I think that’s an important point about modern aesthetic medicine.
We’re not necessarily trying to “fix” one line or fill one area anymore. We can look at the face as a whole and think about skin quality, collagen, hydration, pigmentation, structure and radiance.
For me, that’s what ageing well is really about. Not trying to look 20 years younger, but looking the very best version of yourself at the age you are now.
Would I recommend all three?
Possibly:)) but only after I’ve met you!
The fact that I’ve loved this combination doesn’t mean everybody who walks into The Medi-Shed needs the same three treatments. Some of my patients could benefit enormously from a similar approach. Others might need only one of these treatments, or we may decide something completely different would be more appropriate.
That’s why I believe so strongly in starting with a good consultation. We’ll talk about what’s concerning you, look carefully at your skin and face, and then decide together what is actually going to make a worthwhile difference. Because my aim isn’t to make you look “done”. It’s to help you look healthy, fresh, defined, bright and as good as you possibly can for your age.
That’s exactly what I want for myself, too:)) I hope you've found this blog helpful.
Dil x
