Hello everyone! Today we are going to talk about the new device launch at The Medished - DEFINE by Inmode and as their key opinion leader we are lucky to have the first device in the UK:)

Who’s excited:)) Me! As most of my patients know I love technology and what it can offer to my patients to make them feel fantastic. So when you can up your selfie game … with AI (artificial intelligence) technology why not I say! Yes I’ve tested it - and it’s as crazy as it looks, BUT it’s backed by clinical studies showing its efficacy and it works! - only the best at The Medished. All the case studies I've done in the last year with the combined technology have shown excellent results.

What is DEFINE? Well… it’s defines your face hence the name! So the platform houses three technologies - Morpheus8/Evoke/Forma so I can fully customise your treatment plan tailored to your face shape, concerns and aesthetic goals. I will explain all 3 technologies in detail now.

What is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 put simply is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that can achieve remarkable results in anti-ageing, lifting and tightening loose skin. The treatment can be used to transform the face and body areas, promoting a smoother, more contoured, lifted and more youthful appearance. The skin rejuvenation treatment combines microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy to stimulate collagen production, tighten skin, and reduce wrinkles and fine lines. Well how does it work you may wonder! The device uses tiny needles to penetrate the skin and deliver RF energy deep into the dermis. The RF energy heats the skin, causing the collagen fibers to contract and stimulate new collagen production, which in turn helps to improve the skin's texture and firmness... so it's perfect for patients wanting to regain a natural, more youthful appearance. Note: this is a technical procedure so make sure you trust the person treating you:)

Who would benefit from Morpheus8

See below!

Is there any any downtime you may ask? Well I would perform the treatment under local anaesthesia ie. a numbing cream which would be left on for an hour before treatment, and the initial redness post treatment normally goes down in a day, making it a popular choice for patients seeking a non-surgical skin rejuvenation solution. Depending on your start point and face shape I would recommend a course of 2 or 3 sessions a month apart possibly combined with Evoke. Morpheus8 can be a stand alone treatment too. So you don't have to take my word for it... this well known plastic surgeon in the US explains how amazing the technology is!

What is Evoke

This slide below explains the technology. We have had this technology for contouring the lower face for over 2 years now and had some amazing results and patient satisfaction has been high. The technology is also part of the new DEFINE platform. Evoke too can be a standalone treatment. it all depends on your start point and goals which is why a full consultation is essential.

What Is Forma?

Forma, the third technology is a non-invasive skin procedure that uses heat and radiofrequency to increase collagen production in your face, therefore lifting, tightening, and contouring your skin. We use a heated magic wand! which is rubbed up and down your face, giving the feeling like your skin is being ironed. When you’re done, your skin is visible brighter, your jaw is more defined, and overall, your face does indeed look lifted. You can have forma facials any time of the year which are great for general maintenance or for patients wanting to invest in collagen banking treatments. It too feels like a hot stone facial massage and is a firm celeb favourite!

Contact the website www.drdil.co.uk to get booked onto the waitlist - Launch offers available with Jamie for the first patients enquiring:) You will need to pop in for a set of photos and consultation. As this is a Dr-Led clinic you can ensure we have had robust training and experience with the device. You only get one face so never be price driven:)

Enjoy wellness and The Medished… it’s time to upgrade yourself for ever!

With Love,

Acne is a common skin condition that affects many people worldwide. But how do you prevent acne from forming? Understanding the main causes of acne is the first step towards finding effective solutions.

Some of the main causes of acne: excess oil production, clogged hair follicles by oil and dead skin cells, bacteria (P.Acnes) and excess activity of a type of hormone (androgens). Knowing these causes can help us identify the best strategies to prevent acne.

One of the most natural cost effective ways to prevent acne is maintaining a clean and healthy skin regimen. This includes washing your face twice daily and double cleanse at night to remove excess oil, makeup and dead skin cells. However, it's important to avoid harsh cleansers that can lead to skin irritation. Instead, opt for gentle cleansers like the Obagi Nuderm gentle cleanser, which is specially designed to clean, soothe, and refresh your skin without causing unnecessary dryness or irritation.

Diet and lifestyle changes can also significantly impact your skin health. A balanced diet, regular exercise, and adequate sleep can help reduce the risk of acne breakouts. As can small habit changes like regularly changing your pillowcases and towel to avoid the build-up of oil and bacteria. I’d recommend changing them at least twice a week if your prone to breakouts.

Topical treatments can be an effective way to prevent acne. Products like Obagi CLENZIderm system which contains salicylic acid, can help unclog pores and prevent spots. Similarly, Obagi Tretinoin ( vitamin A) works by promoting the renewal of skin cells and helping with oil control. While these products can be highly effective, it's always recommended to consult with skincare professional before starting any new skincare regimen. It does take time and commitment to improve skin-health. We offer a bespoke skincare and treatment plan to achieve this so please contact The Medished if you're struggling.

BREAKOUTS AFTER HOLIDAYS

Outside of the “normal” causes of acne, I’m often asked about acne outbreaks after returning from holiday. Returning from a holiday can sometimes lead to unexpected breakouts. You might wonder, "Why am I breaking out after coming back from holiday?" This could be due to several factors. Traveling can expose your skin to different environments, climates, and pollutants, which can disrupt your skin's balance and lead to breakouts. Also sometimes using the wrong SPF can lead to breakout skin. Changes in diet or sleep patterns during your holiday can also contribute to post-holiday acne.

So, how do you get rid of holiday acne? Returning to your regular skincare routine as soon as possible can help your skin regain its balance. Also, consider using a gentle exfoliator to remove any buildup of dead skin cells or pollutants. If your skin is particularly stressed, products like Obagi Clenziderm system can help soothe and treat breakouts and opting for a non-comogenic moisturier like the Obagi Hydrate is advised.

BREAKOUTS AFTER EXERCISE

Another common question is, "Can working out cause spots on skin?" The answer is yes, it can. While exercise itself is good for your skin as it increases blood flow and nourishes skin cells, the sweat and oils that your skin produces during a workout can clog your pores if not properly cleaned, leading to breakouts.

So, how do you get rid of spots from the gym? It's essential to cleanse your skin immediately after a workout to remove sweat and oil. Using a product like Obagi CLENZIderm M.D.® Daily Care Foaming Cleanser can help keep your pores clear. Also, avoid wearing makeup during a workout and always clean your workout equipment before use to prevent the spread of bacteria.

TEENAGE ACNE

We see many teenagers at The Medished, many of them children of existing patients. Although most teens will have acne at some point they may be embarrassed by it. I can't stress how important it is to take your teen's feelings about acne seriously. Acne can cause low self-esteem and if we help them in the early stages this can help decrease the long-term effects of acne. I offer a hand held teen acne service which includes a bespoke medical grade skincare plan tailored to them with Whatsapp access for top tips. Certain makeups and lifestyle factors can increase breakouts... we are always on hand to help! Sun exposure can make acne worse, and some medications make skin susceptible to the sun's rays so it's essential a physical SPF is worn daily by everyone! (easier said than done with teenagers!)

Also it's advisable to not touch or pick at problem areas as this can lead cot scarring. If the problem is more severe I will advise a dermatologist referral.

In conclusion, preventing acne involves a combination of a healthy lifestyle, a good skincare routine, and possibly, the use of topical treatments. It's important to remember that everyone's skin is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. Therefore, it's crucial to understand your skin type and find a skincare regimen that suits you best. For more information on acne and its treatments, visit our Acne Treatment page and read our previous blog. https://www.drdil.co.uk/post/how-to-treat-acne-with-medical-grade-skincare.

Remember, the journey to clear skin may take time, but with the right information and products, it's possible to help prevent acne and maintain a healthy, glowing complexion.

👰 We have the pleasure and honour of getting so many brides ready for their big day at The Medished! This practice is built on referrals for which we are really grateful! We aim to make all our brides look and feel fantastic, so if you are planning a wedding feel free to get in touch.

Each brides treatment plan is bespoke to their needs - it ALWAYS starts with skin-health (and that’s all you may need!) so they can achieve glowing skin on their big day. We tend to plan appointments 6/9 months before to ensure everything is pitch perfect on the big day! Having said that, we have got brides-to-be ready in just a few weeks too:)

If we are adding in some injectable tweak-ments we only advise a minimalist, natural look to enhance your beauty! This may include- medical facials and peels/ skinboosters/ anti-wrinkle treatment or other meticulously planned injectables.

Now every bride dreams of having perfect, glowing skin on her wedding day. But how do you achieve that radiant bridal glow? Here's a comprehensive guide to help you get started.

Start Early

The journey to flawless wedding day skin starts months before the big day. I’d suggest starting your skincare regimen at least six/nine months in advance. This gives your skin ample time to adjust to new products and treatments. Tweak-ments such as Profhilo and Ameela are designed to enhance your skin's natural beauty. Medical grade skincare like the OBAGI-C RX system can correct signs of skin damage and can help keep your skin looking radiant and healthy.

Revitalise Your Skin

You can consider rejuvenating your skin with antiwrinkle botox, a proven method to restore your youthful glow. Botox is more than just an anti-aging remedy; it's a way to refresh and revitalise your skin, giving it a smooth, wrinkle-free appearance that radiates health and vitality. Anti-wrinkle treatmnent could be your secret weapon for looking fresh, confident, and truly stunning on your big day

The Path to Glowing Skin

Achieving that bridal glow also requires a combination of a balanced diet, regular exercise, plenty of water, and a well-curated skincare routine. Regular facials can help rejuvenate your skin and boost its natural glow. Consider treatments like Skintrinsiq facials, which are tailored to your skin's specific needs and can help address issues like dryness, dullness, or uneven skin tone.

A course of Forma facials can also be fabulous when prepping your skin for your big day! Forma facials are a non-invasive skin procedure that uses heat and radiofrequency to increase collagen production in your face, therefore lifting, tightening, and contouring your skin.

One Month Countdown

As your wedding day approaches, it's time to intensify your skincare routine. One month before your wedding, consider treatments like light chemical peels. These treatments can help remove dead skin cells, revealing a fresher, smoother skin layer beneath. Remember to consult with a skincare professional to ensure these treatments are suitable for your skin type.

The Final Touches

As your big day approaches, consistency is key when it comes to your skincare regime. It's not the time to introduce new treatments or products, as they may react with your skin or take time to settle. Instead, stick to what you know works for you. Your skin, like you, needs to be stress-free and well-rested to look its best. Prioritise getting good sleep ( hard I know... wedding planning can be stressful!) as it not only helps you feel refreshed but also lets your skin naturally rejuvenate. Avoid unnecessary stressors and remember, your skin is a reflection of your overall wellbeing. So, keep calm, carry on with your tried and tested skincare routine, and let your natural beauty shine through on your big day.

Maintaining Your Glow

Once your wedding day has passed, it's important to continue taking care of your skin. Maintain your glow with products like theObagi Vitamin C serum, Obagi Retinal 1% and OBAGI Daily Hydro Drops, which can help keep your skin looking radiant and healthy.

Remember, everyone's skin is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. It's always best to consult with a skincare professional to create a personalised skincare regimen. With the right care and preparation, you can achieve beautiful, glowing skin for your wedding day and beyond.

So the secret to perfect wedding day skin is early preparation, a tailored skincare routine, and the right treatments. Start your journey to flawless, glowing skin with me today, and step into your wedding day with confidence:)

And finally in conclusion how utterly gorgeous does this patient of mine look. She prepped her skin with theOBAGI-C RX system and the result was....breathtakingly stunning and glowing- I’m a fangirl!
